The beautiful sunny days of spring are not too far away, and I’d love to share some tips for getting your home ready to sell for the warmer months ahead. Spring is a time of change and a great time to try to sell your home.
How your furniture is arranged can have a huge impact on a first impression for prospective homebuyers. Since we usually spend more time indoors in the winter, it’s the perfect time to try rearranging the furniture just to give rooms a new look. Find the focal point in the room and move the larger pieces first. If you’re working with a large room, furniture can be moved out from the walls. Think about balance in the room. You will want to try to keep heavy pieces in different areas of the room. Don’t be afraid to experiment – you’ll have plenty of time before spring gets here!
You can also get a jump on spring-cleaning by vacuuming your upholstery and having the furniture and carpets cleaned. For your spring decorating, think fresh flowers, pastels and lightly scented candles to help your space feel clean and fresh. You may want to change the window treatments or add new accent pillows as well to brighten things up.
You can also add a little color to your yard! While it still may be a little too early to plant, you can start to decide what you’d like to do with your garden areas. If you don’t have a green thumb, you might want to consider perennial plants or shrubs that require little maintenance. And if you only have a small space, remember that there are lots of herbs you can grow in a window box or on a windowsill. Your local garden shop will have lots of choices. While you’re planning for outdoors, take a look your home’s exterior to see if you’ll need to freshen it up with a new coat of paint or siding.
When it’s warm enough, go ahead and open up your windows and doors and let the fresh air and sunshine in. This is a must before you let a prospective buyer in to look at your home. Air it out for an hour or two before the appointment and make sure that blinds are open and that maximum light is being let in to show them how bright your home can be.
Best to you and your family for an exciting Spring!
